Hazards of the Gig

It seems natural to assume when you enter a parking garage that you will be able to leave at some point.

Last night after a fun, if noisy, wedding reception at the Old Red Museum in downtown Dallas, we expected just that. But, to our chagrin, we found ourselves trapped in a garage without an attendant, a call button, or a slot for the gate controller to accept a parking voucher or credit card (cash only).

The attendant's booth did have an 800 number - which we called from a cell phone - only to be told insistently by the operator that we had to call from the gate controller or she would not be able to remotely open the barricade.

Sensing this was going absolutely nowhere, we eventually took matters into our own hands (literally), managing to raise the boom arm just enough, as luckily no SUVs were involved.
